Library Hours Changing August 4th

Library Hours Are Changing August 4th

New Hours (Beginning August 4th):
Monday–Friday: 10 AM – 7 PM
Saturday: 10 AM – 3 PM

Starting August 4th, Germantown Public Library will be updating its hours in response to changes to the Public Library Fund. This adjustment slightly reduces our weekly hours while preserving evening access for working patrons. We chose a 7 PM close time to ensure continued availability after typical work hours.
Why the Change?
The newly approved State of Ohio Budget includes significant changes in public library funding beginning in July 2025. In addition, long-term funding remains uncertain, making it essential for libraries to act now to protect future stability.
Across Ohio, libraries are taking proactive steps to ensure financial responsibility and sustained service for their communities. Germantown Public Library is one of only 50 public libraries in Ohio (out of 251 total) that does not receive local property tax support. As a result, changes to the Public Library Fund have a greater impact on our operations.
We believe this change in hours will have minimal impact on the quality of library services and best reflects the way our patrons use the library.
At Germantown Public Library, we remain committed to providing high-quality service and access while navigating these changes with care and foresight. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
